SENATOR OBAMA SPEECH HIGHLIGHTS

  • “…I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring.  What the nay-sayers don’t understand is that this election has never been about me.  It’s been about you.”
  • “What does it say about your judgment when you think George Bush has been right more than ninety percent of the time?”
  • “It’s not because John McCain doesn’t care.  It’s because John McCain doesn’t get it.”
  • “In Washington, they call this the Ownership Society, but what it really means is – you’re on your own; Well it’s time for them to own their failure.”
  • “Democrats have a very different measure of what constitutes progress in this country; We measure progress by how many people can find a job that pays the mortgage; whether you can put a little extra money away at the end of each month so you can someday watch your child receive her college diploma.”
  • “Our government should work for us, not against us.”
  • “…while we’re wallowing in deficits, John McCain stands alone in his stubborn refusal to end a misguided war.”
  • “For part of what has been lost these past eight years can’t just be measured by lost wages or bigger trade deficits.”
  • “Because if you don’t have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare the voters.  If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.”
  • “On November 4th, we must stand up and say: “‘Eight is enough.’”

Oh, What A Night! (aka Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!!!)

WAS IT ALL A SET-UP!!!!! In hindsight, it seems too crafty not to have been,

HAN thinks Republican stooges are crapping big ones in their pants after realizing the entire lead up to the Democratic Convention was a giant HEAD FAKE!

Ha Ha Ha!

What else could we expect from the most masterful strategical minds of our time: Team Clinton-Obama?!

Team Clinton-Obama, using the Republican’s talking points, turned them to their advantage. Starting with HIllary Clinton’s speech, Team Clinton-Obama began to build the tension of the convention. Hillary’s speech was excellent, but she didn’t quite say BO was ready, came the reverberations from the media echo chamber.

Republicans jumped into the fray (as they had to) by launching even more talking points: The right words weren’t being said by the Clintons. The Republicans filled the airwaves with ads featuring Hillary saying heated words about BO from the campaign trail.

Ha, Ha, Ha

The media responded as only they could. They took the bait, ratcheting up the spin; the possible animosity between the two camps was too much to resist. The media speculated and worried: Will Bill say the magic words about Obama?

Tired of guessing, the media sent for their “expert” body language readers. What was HIllary thinking while she was speaking, the media asked? The experts’ verdict: Hillary had not made enough gestures with her arms while speaking. HIllary was being insincere.

The media gratified to have had their mind readers verify their story line continued it, unashamed and unabated.

Whoresspondents are always more interested in muttering Republican talking points before the uttering the truth.

Ha, Ha, Ha

Meanwhile, the Clinton surrogates were sent out to stir up the media even further with still more hints of displeasure with Obama. James Carville was sighted wearing PUMA’s at the convention. Other surrogates were saying that Bill and Barack had much, much tension between them.

Word that President Clinton was going to talk about the economy on national security speech night made for even more controversy. Obama made everyone nervous when he stumbled over his words while trying to explain that it was okay for Clinton to speak on the economy on national security night… was his seeming nervous response hinting at even more friction between the two

President Clinton himself was muttering something to a reporter about Candidate X and Candidate Y, shying away from questions pertaining to his “real feelings” about Obama.

Ha, Ha, Ha

The plan was in place.

During their 6:30p broadcasts, the major networks tuned to Hillary’s nomination of Obama for president. The networks probably would have tuned into this historical process anyway, but HIllary giving the Obama nomination a nod gave the story extra juice.

Obama’s nomination dissolved into a hazy series of speeches as anticipation of the Big Dawg’s appearance grew to a nervous crescendo. The excitement on the floor was palpable even through the view of a dusy teevee screen.  The media slipped in one last Republican talking point before Clinton took the stage: Bill Clinton was afraid of being booed.

“This is a Democratic audience,” one whoreespondent responded obviously not taking the Republican bait.

When President Clinton took the stage, finally speaking he said the exact words the audience and the world were itching to hear: “Barack Obama is ready to be president of the United States.”

Hearing those words, with no other logical way to react after such a frenetic build up, the crowd flew into a tizzy. The media flew into a tizzy. The baton had been passed from one generation to the next.

Kumbaya, everybody.

Well, not for everyone. The Republicans stunned by the perfection of Clinton’s words groaned and put their heads together to map out a new strategy for their campaign. Not to be outdone, they relay their strategy to the media: McCain will announce his VP pick on Obama’s big night.

*The media pauses momentarily from lauding Clinton’s speech to pass on the Republican’s new talking points. But, the world can’t hear what’s being said through the din of the DNC crowd. So the media, giving up, continue their high praise of Clinton’s speech.

Ha, Ha, Ha

(Not only is Obama’s speech, being given before an audience of some 70,000 spectators, the venue is reminiscent of John F. Kennedy’s speech before a similarly-sized audience, the first ever of its kind. Too, Obama’s speech is on the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream speech.”

Obama’s speech is historical and generational and is viewed by most people as a fulfillment of King’s dream).

HAN supposes the Republicans are trying to answer a long ago philsophical question: If a tree falls in the forest… Well, you get the idea.

Ha, Ha, Ha

As Jack Cafferty might say, “you can’t make this stuff up, folks.”

Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha Ha, Ha, Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If HAN’s assessment of events is correct, we have three of the best political minds of all time racing for the White House. Hold on tight Democrats and Progressives…we are in for a wild ride!

Damn… This is an exciting time!

Whoop, Here She Is!

Hillary Clinton and Chelsea… a great pair!

Hillary hit it out of the ball park last night with her DNC speech. HAN was laughing and shouting at the teevee (tuned to PBS: it’s free, no commercials, no whoresspondents, no bloviators, GREAT COVERAGE!) as Hillary tossed one great line after another.  HAN even picked up a hankie once or twice while listening.

HAN wishes HIllary had taken back some of the awful things she said about Barack on the campaign trail… giving her supporters a fuller rationale for backing him while debunking Republican talking points. However, If the speech serves to bring her frustrated supporters in line… then HAN is pleased.

HAN is hoping that by Thursday evening the Democrats will have a kick-ass united party and can do some serious damage to the Rightwing agenda.

****************

HAN’s heard that certain whorresspondents are chiding Hillary for not endorsing Barack Obama as Commander-In-Chief.

Well, DUH.

In AMERICA… we don’t elect commander- in-chiefs. WE ELECT PRESIDENTS. We’re very close to being a military state, though we’re not there, yet.

Calm down, boys.

Oh, Hill!

Hillary Clinton is saying all the right things now– ‘cept for last Thursday when she called BO “her opponent” or on Monday when she said that she’s releasing her delegates to vote for Obama, ‘cept that who they vote for is their “personal choice,”

Her surrogates, on the other hand, are off the reserva-… well, they are off message, a bit.

Just this morning, Hill supporters Dee Dee Myers and Terry McAuliffe said that ‘nobody tells Bill what to talk about.’ Myers and McAuliffe were talking about President Clinton’s Wednesday night speech on the economy on what is being billed as national security night.

And the other day, Paul Begala complained, while flashing his trademark uncanny grin, that *Hillary was not on Obama’s short list and that Bill wasn’t consulted about who should be VP. Yikes. Hill supporters are in agreement that Team Obama has not been “gracious” enough

Anyhow, there’s growing consensus that Hill and Bill will hit the right notes during their speeches tonight and Wednesday.

Friends of HAN are not so sure, though.

“The Clintons are working it like Barack Obama and Joe Biden,” The Friends said. ” Biden does the rough stuff… Obama stays above the fray.”

“‘Clean,’ as Biden might say,” The Friends added.

HAN was stunned by The Friends’ pessimism.

“And,” The Friends continued breathlessly, “You hear her saying all the right stuff about Obama, leaving her surrogates tossing mud. The Clintons are masters of this political stuff,” The Friends insisted.

So The Friends of HAN said that they are holding their collective breath until after the roll call vote on Thursday evening. They are just not so sure that the nomination is in the bag for Obama. Not yet.

“Do you know what you are implying?” HAN asked The Friends.

“Yes,” they responded. “We’re implying that the Clintons have signed a suicide pact. No Obama presidency 2008, no 2012 presidency for Hill.”

After listening to The Friends, HAN recalled the primary math that early on would keep Hillary from winning the nomination, though HIllary and her surrogates kept spinning the facts, falsely lifting hopes, sending her supporters’ emotions into a frenzy.

Then HAN thought about Hillary’s “18 million voters” count that excludes Barack’s caucus wins as “unfair”.

Finally, HAN recalled that earlier on during the primaries Hillary said that delegates are free to vote as they please.

“Hmmmm….. Maybe it’s not over ’til it’s over,” HAN told The Friends, before inhaling deeply.

Oh, HIll.

Monday’s Moanin’ 8-25-08

HAN was told that some freaky ”news” whoresspondent this morning called Michelle Obama “rich” and “out of touch” because she makes a six-figure salary. Maybe the whoresspondent meant Michelle makes more money than most blacks and is out of touch with most blacks……. Nah, don’t think so.

The whoresspondent obviously overlooked McSame’s threshold for rich being “$5 million.” (A friend of HAN says the whorresspondent was reading from this morning’s Republican talking points).

If earning six figures is rich, McSame’s wife is stupid rich. Can’t wait to hear how the whoresspondents describe the “at least $100 million” wealth of Mrs. Cindy McSame.

**********************

Can progressives pleeeease stop emphasizing so much these “polls” of supposed “supporters” of Hillary Clinton?

Do we honestly know that all those polled are actual supporters?

**********************

Speaking of disgruntled Democrats possibly voting for a McSameRegime, there’s a great article here about how easy it is for facism to take hold in America because the majority population have grown accustomed to their little goodies in the way of privilege and will do just about anything, like embracing fascismto uphold a system that grants them favors.

Puuuh….The author has got to be kidding, of course. No one, especially politically conscious Democrats, would exchange real freedom for a chance at grabbing at some *bennies from a unequal & unjust American system.

(Gulp) Would they?

**********************

So far as Blacks, Mexicans and Democrats leaving America, it ain’t going to happen. Okay. Deal. With. It. Before or at least by 2042 the nation’s demographics will make a dramatic shift.

The year 2042 is a little more than 30 years from now. What kind of world do we want to leave our babies? What kind of world will we leave our babies

**********************

So far as the paranoia (the unhealthy kind) that’s awash in some of the loftier (and even less lofty) sections of American society that Blacks will gain some sort of mystical power thereby allowing them to overthrow the government enslaving whites with an Obama win, HAN has already demonstrated here how blacks (some having deeper roots in this country than some Whites) do not have a history of upsetting the apple cart in America, ’sides tearing up their own neighborhoods.

Are some whites holding on to some deep sort of psychological guilt about something or ‘nother if they think that some awful “day of reckoning” is at hand?

It may surprise some people, but black people love America, too

Get. A. Grip. And. Hold. Tight. To. It.

OBAMA-BIDEN ‘08! An American Prayer (Dave Stewart Music Vid)

“American Prayer” – Dave Stewart (Barack Obama Music Video)

“American Prayer” Song Lyrics

This is my American Prayer
This is my American Prayer
(This is my American prayer)
This is the time, so finish what you’ve started
And this is no time to dream

This is the room
We can turn off the dark tonight
Maybe then, we might see

(This is my American prayer)

American Prayer
American Prayer

And this is the ground
That keeps our feet from getting wet
And this is the sky… over our head
And what you see depends on where you stand
And how you jump will tell you where you’re gonna land

American Prayer
American Prayer

My oh my
Couldn’t get much higher
Lets not kick out the darkness
Make the light… brighter

And these are the hands
What are we gonna build with them?
This is the church you can’t see

(Remember)
Give me your tired, your poor and huddled masses
You know they’re yearning to breathe free
This is my American Prayer

American Prayer
American Prayer

When you get to the top of the mountain
Will you tell me what you see?
If you get to the top of the mountain
Remember me

Ask US Of Evil

During his conversations with the presidential candidates, evangelical guru Warren posed a series of questions re: evil: does it exist, if it does, should we deal with it and how? Some people are upset that America’s new guru didn’t ask questions more pertinent and in line with Christianity, such as how we should better care for the poor.

Well, the guru had to ask about evil because Americans know all too well who is evil and where it resides. We know evil’s out there someplace where, probably, some of those scary brown people live. Surely evil can’t be found here at home.

I knew that John McCain’s answer was politically correct when his ‘chase it to the gates of hell’ response was received by wild applause from the conservative audience, while Barack Obama’s response of “there’s evil right here’ received sighs, murmurs and yawns.

How have Americans come to be so arrogant and isolated that we can only see evil elsewhere and not at home, maybe residing in our very selves?

Maybe because no one wants to see themselves as anything other than good. Or as Obama sort of put it ‘the road to hell begins with good intentions’. So we justify the behavior of the Dick Cheney’s because protecting American citizens-even when that “protection” removes constitutional rights or even when Cheney stands to make goo gobs of money for him and his cronies-is job one.

Or we turn a blind eye to the number of filthy lies told to us by GWB. Afterall, we rationalize, he doesn’t really know what’s going on in an administration that he heads.

Post-September 11, 2001, 90% of the population stood behind Bush... a lot of progressives were included in that number

Somehow progressives got caught up in the hysteria, forgetting the warnings of Molly Ivins whose many columns foretold that GWB in the White House meant making a mess of America the way he’d made a mess of Texas. Somehow progressives didn’t remember his disreputable lust for blood as he presided over the highest number of prisoner executions while governor of Texas. Progressives neglected to remember his lack of compassion as Karla Faye Tucker pleaded for her life as GWB giggled and sneered at those pleas like a schoolyard bully.

How many progresives would now admit to supporting GWB during those fearful, hysterical post September 11, 2001 days, yet now won’t hesitate to call him evil?

Evil is not nurtured by good judgment… is sometime supported by good intentions.

As well, evil resides a lot closer than any of us would care to admit and, yes, sometimes it even wears a white hat.

The Double-Speaking Of Double-Thinkers

Found this little ditty on the Youtube. It’s from *Fox News and demonstrates just what’s wrong with American news media. There are two high profiles politicians who have admitted cheating on their wife: John Edwards and John McCain, yet Neocon Hannity can only fault John Edwards for his infidelity, excusing McCain because “he is (sic) not the person he is now.”

It’s crazy and irrational… they’re obviously influenced by a politically conservative bent. Everything Hannity says in referencing Edwards can be applied to McCain, yet his irrationality won’t allow him to see it.

Hundreds of thousands of American viewers are influenced by this kind of rationalizing that passes for analysis. And our airwaves are inundated with this nonsense.

It’s mind-numbing and frightening to think that for younger Americans this is what they’ve come to know as “real” journalism.

If we don’t hurry and turn things around in this country… in a couple of generations they’ll really be able to really have their way with us.

*HAN only does mainstream sourcing when pointing out their distortions.

Monday’s Moanin’

HAN won’t be quoting any mainline, corporate-owned US media sources from this point forward. They are not worthy and seem to be submitting to the PNAC agenda of US hegemony and/or whatever other insidious plans they have brewing. PNAC is the group of deep “thinkers” who got us involved in Iraq. They want to keep junk going in the world… keeping the American public off-balance, distracted from domestic issues and poor.

*************

Heard a report this morning from (Rupert Murdoch-owned) SkyNews that “it is quietly said that Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili is a psychopathic dictator.” They did not explain who is quietly saying this or why. However, they showed video of Russian-captured US weapons and reported that Russians will blend Georgian-captured tanks into the Russian army. They also showed a bombed out building somewhere in Georgia that the Russians claimed incited their strong response.

Have been looking for the video on line with no success. If I find it I will post it.

*************

There is no religious test for US president.

The evangelicals have a sorrowful hold on the politics of this country. That some religious guru moderated  the first “debate” between our presidential candidates is a sad commentary on the politics in America.

By the way, there’s talk that McFail cheated by hearing the conversation between Barack Obama and the guru.

American politics: All show and little, if any, substance.

*************

America looks weak in this confrontation with Russia. Rhetoric aside, the only thing we can do of any consequence to Russia is drop a few bombs, but Russia has bombs too. Is this the goal? Everybody dropping bombs is crazy, but these PNACer’s come straight from the cuckoo’s nest. There are PNACer’s who think GWB in his response was weak preferring instead a more aggressive stance.

Why would America start something that we couldn’t finish, showing the world just how militarily weak we actually are? Some observers say it is to make John McFail look like a leader.

Some others say it is a slow transfer of hostilities from Iraq to stir raw emotions in the former Soviet bloc, since GWB is acknowledging a pullout of troops in Iraq….possibly signaling an end to hostilities there, especially since the Oil Baron’s will get desired Iraqi oil rights.

Of the two scenarios the latter seems more plausible. Though if McFail can look “presidential” during this crisis, that could be a plus for him.

As well, former bloc countries have constituencies that are split on being pro-West or pro-Russia. The Russian response in Georgia is seen as a shot across the bow to them.

Fun times ahead. Not.
